Success at WA AHI awards

3 May 2019

Access Housing stood tall at last night’s 2019 Australasian Housing Institute Professional Excellence in Housing (WA) Awards reception, with our staff delegation and guests celebrating multiple award wins.

One of our highly valued South West-based staff members, Paul, was a more than deserving co-winner of the ‘Inspirational Team Member’ award and our ‘How to manage on a low income’ financial workshops claimed top honours in the ‘Leading Community Engagement Practice’ category.

The Ruah Community Services-led 50 Lives 50 Homes program, to which Access Housing is one of about 30 partnering organisations, took out the ‘Excellence in Social Housing’ category award, whilst our South West Ageing in Place Housing Pilot Project received a high commendation in the ‘Leading Housing Development Project’ category.

The Australasian Housing Institute Awards provide an opportunity to showcase social housing success stories. The awards formally recognise and reward excellence in professional practice, from the grassroots to the most senior levels and promote the difference that social housing professionals make to people’s lives. The awards program features award categories for individuals and teams working in the social housing industry, as well as for tenants.

As WA regional award winners, Paul, our Financial Workshops and the 50 Lives 50 Homes program are now automatic finalists for the national awards that will be presented during the 2019 National Housing Conference in Darwin in late August.
