Helping women and their children find their Way Home

10 May 2018

The Way Home Program is a new initiative between Access Housing and the Sisters of St John of God (SSJG) that provides long term housing for women and their children who have experienced homelessness.

Way Home focuses on social outcomes for program clients, namely:

* to support families to be housed and maintain their tenancy
* to be empowered to build their capacity and wellbeing, and
* to be connected with their community

Along with Tenancy and Property Management services, Access Housing will be providing tailored tenant support to help tenants achieve these outcomes.

“The vision of the program is that once families have stability and success, the support component will be moved to other families requiring focused support. These tenancies will involve the same target group and the program will continue to help families find their Way Home, in whatever capacity they need,” Access Housing Acting General Manager Tenancy Services Kathryn Moorey said.

Sisters of St John of God Regional Leader Sr Isobel Moran said; “The Sisters of St John of God are delighted to be working with Access Housing in the provision of stable affordable housing and support services to women and children who are experiencing homelessness.”
