With just one week to go until the 2015 National Housing Conference, Access Housing’s excitement for the three-day event is building.
The conference, which is convened by the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute, is the largest cross-sectoral housing meeting in Australasia. This year the conference will see more than 800 delegates from across Australia, New Zealand and further afield attend. It will also see Access Housing proudly profile itself via its exhibition booth, Chief Executive Officer delivering a presentation on day two and through its staff and project nominations for Australasian Housing Institute (AHI) awards.
Day one of the conference at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (Wednesday 28 October) will culminate with the 2015 AHI Professional Excellence in Housing Awards reception. Access Housing is an AHI Awards Reception sponsor and will have a table at the function, with a range of Board, Executive Management and staff to attend and support two of our staff and one project that are nominated for awards.
Day two will see Access Housing CEO Garry Ellender form part of an expert panel when he takes part in a presentation, discussion and Q&A session titled The house always wins: investing for financial gain and social return. Garry will be joined by Housing Action Network Associate Carrie Hamilton, The Social Investment Collective Managing Director Carolin Leeshaa and Social Ventures Australia Director – Impact Investing Mark Peacock for the session, which will discuss how social impact investment has the power to create change for social good while also delivering a financial return to those who choose this means of investment. It will also examine the concept in more detail to understand how it is being implemented in social policy in Australia and internationally and understand how social impact investment can support the new supply of affordable rental housing. Mr Ellender will give a not-for-profit affordable housing provider perspective on the topic.
Garry’s presentation will complement Access Housing’s broader staff delegation attendance throughout the conference. Staff from Access Housing’s Tenancy Services, Property Assets and Corporate teams will attend the conference and contribute to discussions surrounding the pressing issues, opportunities, innovations and ideas within the affordable housing sector.
Access Housing will also be exhibiting its services throughout the event at exhibition booth 24. We will have a range of corporate publications and free giveaway items available, so conference delegates are encouraged to swing past our booth to say hello and learn more about one of Western Australia’s leading providers of affordable housing.
