Access Housing Chief Executive Officer Garry Ellender will join other Perth business and community leaders for a night ‘sleeping rough’ at the WACA Ground in East Perth on Thursday 18 June as part of the 2015 Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
The Vinnies CEO Sleepout celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2015, a milestone that is inspiring St Vincent de Paul Society to aim high with a $10 million fundraising target for this year’s events held in capital cities and major regional centres across Australia. Funds raised have the potential to not only provide crucial assistance to people experiencing homelessness but to make inroads to addressing the very causes of homelessness with the aim of breaking the cycle of homelessness permanently for as many people as possible.
“The discomfort of ‘sleeping rough’ in the open at the WACA Ground for a single night is a fragment of the larger reality, but gives some of the most influential leaders in our community a taste of life on the streets,” Garry said.
After raising more than $7,000 for the 2014 event, Garry has his eyes set on raising $10,000 for the 2015 event. To make a donation and help Garry reach his fundraising goal for St Vincent de Paul Society, please visit https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/ceos/wa-ceos/garry-ellender-access-housing/
