Access Housing’s South West Ageing in Place Housing Pilot Project development at Boyanup was recognised as one of the South West’s best residential developments at the 2018 Master Builders-Bankwest Building Excellence Awards for the South West on Saturday 24 March.
Access Housing-appointed builder BGC Construction collected the Best Multi Residential Development ($1.5M – $2M) award for their work at our Boyanup seniors complex.
The project, which reached completion in May 2017, has provided seniors local to the South West with the opportunity to ‘right-size’ into affordable homes better suited to their needs without having to move out of their community. Each of the nine new and affordable 2 and 3-bedroom villas include special Livable Housing Design features to suit residents’ abilities and changing needs and provide at least a Gold(*) level of accessibility. Two villas at the development provide a Platinum(#) level of accessibility.
Access Housing’s General Manager of Property Assets Duane Moroney congratulated BGC Construction on their award win and role in helping Access Housing deliver new affordable homes for seniors looking to ‘right-size’ while remaining within their home town.
“Access Housing is committed to working with premier builders on each of our development projects to ensure the quality of homes delivered is of the highest standard for our tenants and buyers,” Mr Moroney said.
“Access Housing has a fantastic relationship with BGC Construction in both the Perth metro area and the South West region. Their delivery of our Riverside Villas development at Boyanup was first class, as was their timely delivery of the project.
“The homes delivered are spacious, accessible, solar passive and suitable for over 55s who want to continue living independently within picturesque Boyanup.”
BGC Construction Regional Manager – South West Ross Marshall said the company was proud to win the award and was quick to acknowledge the effort of the broader project team that worked together to deliver the award winning homes.
“The quality of workmanship and finishes is outstanding and credit to the construction team. Credit should also be given to Access Housing and consultants for their collaborative effort and support,” Mr Marshall said.
Access Housing has retained seven homes at Riverside Villas for affordable rental purposes. Three original villas at the Boyanup site have also undergone modern refurbishments and are now for sale.
