Access Housing’s growth, diversification and innovation in social and affordable housing have assisted it in being named a finalist in Business News’ 2016 Rising Stars Awards in the Not-For-Profit / Charity category.
The awards uncover and showcase rising star organisations, highlighting companies that have experienced recent growth but still have future potential. Eligible companies must be based in Western Australia, have shown growth over the past few years, wish to inspire others to grow their enterprises and wish to build its profile.
Access Housing Chief Executive Officer Garry Ellender said the company’s nomination for the Not-For-Profit / Charity award could be attributed to the efforts of staff, management and Board of Directors in applying best practice principles while also seeking to evolve not just the company’s services but also the broader affordable housing sector.
“Access Housing would be a worthy winner because we have operated via a strategic framework that has put system and client outcomes at the forefront of what we do. At each stage of our journey we have challenged ourselves on how we can do more and do better,” Mr Ellender said.
“Access Housing is mission driven, is making a difference to people’s lives and is trying to effect system change. We have a strategic leadership role within our sector and are recognised nationally as an innovator willing to challenge the status quo.
“Growth for Access Housing is about driving significant increases in new housing supply and creating pathways through the housing continuum to assist people to better their life opportunities.”
A judge on the awards’ expert selection panel told the Rising Stars Awards website the standard of the competition has been outstanding both in the calibre of the companies nominated and the effort they put into their entries.
“Across the categories the judges have been impressed by the wide range of businesses and sectors represented, with many having a national and even international flavour to their market penetration,” the judge said.
In addition to being a finalist in the Not-For-Profit / Charity category, Access Housing is also eligible for the People’s Choice Award, which the public votes on and determines.
Awards will be presented at a cocktail reception function on the evening of Wednesday 29 June at the State Theatre Centre of WA, where winning companies will be celebrated and honoured for their success.
