Equipment for Living Grants (EFL) Individual Grants 2011-2012

The State Government has announced further funding of $1,000,000 towards vital equipment and technology for people with disabilities. Those eligible will receive grants up to a maximum of $5,000 for essential equipment not currently available through the Community Aids and Equipment (CAEP) scheme or other support programs.
 
Types of Equipment available to those who are eligible for this grant include:
·         Electrically operated adjustable beds to make caring easier for families and unpaid carers,
·         Items that children/individuals are learning to use, and are not available through CAEP due to restrictions regarding only one piece of mobility equipment being funded,
·         Car seats for children and adults and occupant restraint for travelling in vehicles,
·         Light weight inverters to power breathing equipment that fit a wheelchair better than the current larger inverter,
·         Alternative positional items for people with complex needs,
·         Electronic mobility aids for people with vision impairments,
·         Environmental controls,
·         Personal hygiene equipment such as bidets,
·         Assistive communication technology such as telephone adaptations.
From these grants, the government hopes for individuals to participate more independently in their homes and communities.
Closing date for all applications is Friday September 9, 2011.
